Rocket Mortgage began crafting its new brand strategy with an ambitious goal: to become the most culturally relevant brand in homeownership. With a new style guide and a masterclass presentation completed and ready to build upon, the next step in the strategy rollout was the creation of an editorial-driven book complete with the fully-realized new strategy narrative.

I created the preliminary layout in InDesign, determining the placement of content across the book’s 80 pages and breaking it up with placeholder visuals and infographics to make it more easily digestible. As the team iterated on graphics and styles, I added creative ideas to the mix, elevating wherever possible to create something worthy of an iconic brand.

The project was extremely fast-paced and collaborative, necessitating clear and timely communication around responsibilities, timelines, and handoffs. We also annotated directly in the file and implemented a system for versioning and file management. I was in charge of the master file, merging changes from multiple documents and authors into a single final output. Extreme attention to detail was required as I made sure that all feedback was addressed, no edits were accidentally reverted, and every detail from cover to cover was accurate and consistent.
